Graduate in econometrics (the University of Lodz, 1970), employed at the Institute of Econometrics of the University of Lodz as the Head of the Institute of Econometrics (2012-2016). He won the Minister's Awards for his doctoral and habilitation dissertation, and the Award of the E. Lipiński Polish Economic Society for a book entitled "Modyfikacje funkcji produkcji i wydajności pracy" ["Modifying the Production Function and Labour Efficiency"]. Professor (2006). He has published 90 academic papers.

Foreign experience: University of Pennsylvania (lectures with the Nobel Prize winner, L.R. Klein), the Central Economic Mathematical Institute in Moscow, and the University of Bonn. He has lectured in Poland and 12 other countries at 130 conferences. He is a member of the organization committee of the conference and editorial board of "Annales. Etyka w życiu gospodarczym” (1998- ), the Statistical Council by the Prime Minister of Poland (2001-2002), jury of the competition of the E. Lipiński Polish Economic Society (in 2016), and the Lech Kaczyński Academic Civic Club (2010- ).

He has worked as a thesis advisor for six successful doctoral dissertations, and managed nine central projects researching econometric models of economic growth, income inequality, social capital and European integration. His recent interests centre on the capital of trust (trusting others, willingness to help, honesty) and its correlation with economic growth. Since the birth of his first grandchild in 2006, he has also studied the relationships between the economy and the family (birth rate, marriage and divorce), as well as the interrelationships between family capital and economic growth and quality of life.

Married, with two sons and six grandchildren.
