    The Gender & Sociology Department is a key research institution in Czechia dedicated to basic and applied research into gender relations and inequalities, and advances in the sociology of gender. We combine quantitative and qualitative research with theoretical scholarship and have strong experience in participating and leading national and international multi-partner research projects. We focus on four topical areas: 1) Gender and the labor market: Life-course oriented working-time policies; Digitalisation, flexible working arrangements, and precarious work; Gender relations and diversity in companies and organizations; Gender and precarity in entrepreneurship, copreneurship, and self-employment; Ageing and extension of working lives; Intersectional and policy approaches to the gender pay gap 2) Politics and practices of care: Politics of reproduction and care; Vulnerable families and policy contexts; Care and multilocality; Formal and informal elderly and child care; Practices and discourses of care; Development of childcare and elderly care policies; Transnational care practices; Intimacy, birth-giving practices, and healthcare policy 3) Families and intimate lives: Singlehood, childlessness, one-child families and low fertility; Gay and lesbian families, partnerships, and parenting desires, intentions, and strategies; Migrant families; Combining of care and paid work in the lives of men and women in diverse situations, social locations, and family forms; Work-life balance and migration 4) Feminist critique of inequalities: Intersectional impact of COVID-19; Online gendered identities; Gender in the discourse, communication, and cyberspace; Transnational migration, gendered aspects of mobility, and the geopolitics of borders; Gender and energetics; Gender-sensitive education space; Social inequalities in an intersectional perspective

    We are interested in projects investigating the impacts of technological changes and digitalization on gender inequalities, families and intimate lives, gender relations on the labor market, and politics and practices of care. We can contribute with our knowledge in the research areas mentioned above, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods, and experience with international multi-partner research projects.
