    I am a practice-led researcher who uses creative writing and digital art to explore the impact of AI and automation, and other themes at the intersection of technology, culture, and politics. My research involves innovative research methodologies, including the use of speculative design and critical play to foster interdisciplinary encounters and expand the horizons of our shared social imaginary. Specific areas of interest include: * Future forms of capitalism, post-capitalism * Real and speculative diverse economies * Data visualisation and data perceputalisation * The ethics and epistemology of AI / machine learning * Automation and posthumanism * Technological justice and race, disability, gender, sexuality, and other identity characteristics * VR, AR, XR and data-driven and immersive storytelling * Design fiction and diegetic prototyping * Engaging publics and integrating diverse stakeholders in understanding and debating the political affordances of new technology * Science fiction and futures methodologies * Decarbonisation and environmental crisis * Disinformation, fake news, and democratic institutions * Health and wellbeing, including the measurement of wellbeing * Visualising uncertainty data for decision-making support More information here: https://www.jolindsaywalton.com/

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

    I am open to contributing to any interesting project. I would probably be a suitable collaborator for a project that is looking to strengthen the arts and humanities, creative practice, and/or knowledge exchange aspects of the project, and/or incorporate some innovative formats for interdisciplinary exchange. I am listing myself here as an individual, but I also a researcher at the Sussex Humanities Lab, which has a wide and deep expertise in the Digital Humanities more generally, and I would be happy to discuss other forms of collaboration, or help put you in touch with other relevant researchers at SHL.
