  • Brief description of your expertise / expertise you are looking for:

I have been interested in the analysis of language used in social media for a few years. Last year I have presented my topic "Who stole the verbs? The language used in social media" in the international conference "Intermediality in Communication" at Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuania. The generation gap described by prof. John Sutherland caught my attention as the language used in social media by the young users include many new terms, acronyms, which are sometimes difficult to understand for parents or grandparents or those who do not spend that much time in social media. I and my colleagues are looking for a project focusing on digital age and its impact on the usage of language.

  • Brief description of your project / the project you would like to join:

We would like to join the project analysing the usage of language in social media, or the project, in general, focusing on digital age and its impact on the lives of young users of internet and the new trends of spoken and written language.
