The National Science Centre published the results of the four calls for proposals announced in March 2011. In total PLN 500 million will be distributed to 1871 projects.

The Centre received almost 8 thousand proposals under the calls for the funding of research projects in the following categories: general grants, pre-doctoral grants, PhD holders grants and non co-financed grants. Polish researches applied for over 2.5 billion PLN, whereas the amount available was 0.5 billion PLN.

Evaluation of proposals submitted under the calls was divided into two stages. In the first stage, the proposals were evaluated in terms of content only by Polish experts grouped in expert panels appointed for each call. Nearly 4 thousand proposals accepted in the first phase underwent further evaluation by external experts, both Polish and foreign. Based on those evaluations the expert panels made final decisions on financing chosen projects. The overall success rate for the calls was nearly 24%.
