Scientists from the Nencki Institute together with their peers from the Institute of Physical Chemistry, the Polish Academy of Sciences will carry out research on protein intracellular mobility and interactions in vivo. The Symfonia grant, funded by the National Science Centre, will allow the grantees to conduct interdisciplinary research which could bring us closer to an understanding of such grave neurodegenerative conditions as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease. The research we are planning will enable us to learn more about the source of abnormalities in the functioning of proteins. Such knowledge may prove applicable in the future treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, says Professor Duszyński, the Principal Investigator.
