Proposals are now being accepted under “Democracy, Governance and Trust”, a call for international projects organised by the NCN in cooperation with the Trans-Atlantic Platform for Social Sciences and Humanities (T-AP).
DGT Call 2023 is open to international consortia composed of at least three research teams from a minimum of three participating countries from both sides of the Atlantic: Brazil, Canada, Croatia, France, Great Britain, Poland, South Africa, Switzerland and the United States.
The call covers nine broad themes: Concepts, understandings and models of democracy, governance and trust; Education; Media, information and communication; Economies and economic systems; Identities, discrimination, marginalisation and inequalities; Ecosystems and environments; Epistemologies, knowledge and expertise; History and culture; Power, authority and conflict. NCN is accepting proposals that meet the criteria of basic research.
Grants awarded to Polish teams under the T-AP DGT Call 2023 may be used to fund salaries, including salaries and scholarships for students and PhD students, research equipment and other costs crucial to the research project. The projects may last 24 or 36 months.
The budget available for the Polish teams under the scheme is 600,000 euros.
Proposals, peer review and results
This is a one-stage call, which means that only a full proposal needs to be submitted at the international level; it needs to be preceded by an obligatory Notice of Intent to apply (NOI). The NOI must be submitted before 15 September 2023 and the deadline for full proposals is 6 November 2023; both documents are filed on behalf of the consortium by its leader. The Polish team must also submit a domestic proposal via the OSF system.
Only joint proposals undergo merit-based review by a panel of experts appointed by agencies participating in the call.
The results of DGT Call 2023 can be expected in the summer of 2024.
Under the previous call announced by the NCN in cooperation with the Trans-Atlantic Platform (T-AP) for Social Sciences and Humanities RRR Call 2021, devoted to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on social life, funding was awarded to five consortia that included Polish teams.
