  1. Can researchers from Ukraine be employed from the pool allocated for post-doc employment?

    If the funds allocated for post-doc employment are not used or are not fully used for that purpose, they may be allocated for employment of researchers from Ukraine on terms and conditions laid down in the letter of the NCN Director.

  2. Can a researcher from Ukraine be employed with remuneration paid from the funds left in the "remuneration" category (e.g. funds left as a result of shortening the post-doc employment period, funds left as a result of failing to employ a scholarship recipient due to there being no suitable candidate, etc.)?

    Yes, they can. Researchers from Ukraine can be employed with remuneration paid from the funds in any item of direct costs in the budget annexed to the grant agreement. Research institutions may provide extra funds for their remuneration from their own resources or from indirect costs.

  3. Does the National Science Centre have to grant its approval for employment of a researcher from Ukraine?

    No, it does not. The host institution for the project decides whether or not to employ a researcher from Ukraine. The NCN must be notified thereof in writing, within 7 days of the employment start date (a letter must be sent to the Electronic Delivery Box of the National Science Centre) and must be provided with information specified in the letter of the NCN Director.   4. Does the National Science Centre provide any assistance to researchers who left Ukraine after 24 February 2022 and being students at doctoral schools, etc. have no PhD (or equivalent) degree?

    Unfortunately, no assistance is provided to such researchers under the programme, however they may find employment under NCN projects on the applicable terms and conditions. A special scheme for researchers who are not PhD holders has recently been launched by the National Agency for Academic Exchange.  

  5. Does the National Science Centre require researchers from Ukraine to have their degrees validated in Poland?

    No, their degrees does not have to be validated Poland. 

  6. Can researchers who are intending to leave Ukraine soon be employed under NCN-funded research projects?

    Yes, they can. Research teams may provide employment for researchers who worked and conducted research in the research institutions in Ukraine before the war and arrived in Poland on or after 24 February 2022 as a result of military operations. However, they should be in Poland on the start date of their employment.

  7. Is it necessary to include researchers from Ukraine employed to perform research tasks in the annual/ final reports of the research team? 

    YES, IT IS. Annual and final reports must include the names of all investigators remunerated from the project funds. 

  8. Does the National Science Centre keep a database of submitted proposals under which researchers from Ukraine could be employed or a database of researchers from Ukraine willing to take employment under projects?

    The National Science Centre will try to compile a database of submitted proposals, however institutions alone should create workplaces using their contacts.
