Biography:
Małgorzata Kurkowiak is a Bioinformatician, Geneticist, and Data Scientist with a strong interest in research data management and FAIR data principles. She currently works at the University of Gdańsk on transcriptome analysis and RNA editing mechanisms. As an Open Science Ambassador within the research-EU project, she advocates for transparency, reproducibility, and accessibility in scientific research.
Małgorzata obtained her PhD in Medical Sciences in 2014 from the Institute of Human Genetics, PAS in Poznań, Poland. She completed a two-year research internship at the University Children’s Hospital Muenster, Germany, gaining experience in molecular and genetic research. She has been awarded multiple prestigious scholarships and scientific distinctions, including the Polish Prime Minister’s Award for a distinct PhD thesis.
Małgorzata leads a bilateral research project within the Weave-UNISONO program, funded in Poland by the National Science Centre (NCN). Her research focuses on RNA editing, bioinformatics, and open data sharing. She collaborates internationally to study RNA editing and modifications through computational and experimental approaches.
