Dr Agata Plesnar-Bielak

 

Graduate in Environmental Protection from the Faculty of Chemistry, Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Completed doctoral studies in Biology at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Continued professional work at the Institute, conducting research in evolutionary biology and exploring links between evolution and ecology through methods such as experimental evolution and genomics. Research focused particularly on sexual selection and sexual conflict in the context of environmental change and the maintenance of genetic variation in populations. Awarded the START Fellowship by the Foundation for Polish Science, Iuventus Plus grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, and two OPUS grants from the National Science Centre. Former NCN expert serving on evaluation panels and consultant on EU R&D and investment funds. English teacher.

NCN coordinator since August 2025.

Hobbies: yoga, reading, cooking.
