Piotr Kopiec is a theology professor at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin and a PhD holder in sociology. His research interests include the social teaching of the Christian churches, interconfessional relations, the systematics of the ecumenical movement, Protestant theology and its impact on culture and society, ecumenical approach to contemporary global economic, social and cultural processes, and the culture of remembrance.

He is a member of the Standing Committee of the European Ecumenical Research Association “Societas Oecumenica”, Chairman of the Theological Commission of the International Ecumenical Fellowship, member of the “European Ecumenical Network of Culture of Remembrance” (within which he has co-implemented several research projects), member of the Academic Board of the Center for Theology and Economics of the Ghana Christian University, and co-investigator in the research project “Biblical Theology and Hermeneutics” implemented by the Department of New Testament Studies, Faculty of Theology and Religion, University of Pretoria.

He has carried out several grants funded by the National Science Center and the National Programme for the Development of Humanities. He is deputy editor-in-chief of the journal Annals of Theology, and member of the scientific councils of several journals published in Slovenia, Romania and Malta. He is a regular reviewer of doctoral theses at the University of Malta.

Piotr Kopiec is the author of six scientific monographs, editor of several multi-author monographs and more than 150 articles in scientific journals.

He has organized and co-organized many scientific conferences and ecumenical events.

He has held several research internships at the World Council of Churches in Geneva. He has held teaching internships at universities in Romania, Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Slovakia.
