The National Natural Science Foundation of China was established in 1986 to administer the National Natural Science Fund. With the aim to support basic research, foster talented researchers, develop international cooperation and promote socio-economic development, the NSFC has since developed comprehensive systems of merit-based evaluation and project implementation.
On 28th March 2018 in Beijing prof. Zbigniew Błocki, director of the National Science Centre (NCN) and prof. Xie Xincheng, Vice-President of NSFC for International Affairs, signed a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions. This bilateral agreement lays the cornerstone of work on a future common funding opportunity for Polish-Chinese research teams. The first joint call SHENG 1, covering Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering and selected disciplines in Social Sciences, was launched in June 2018.
