The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the DFG) is a research grant organisation, financing basic research in all disciplines. It is an association of German research universities, non-university research institutions and scientific associations operating under private law. It is mostly financed by the German federal states and the Federal Government.
The NCN has started its cooperation with the DFG in 2014 under the BEETHOVEN programme, and has continued cooperation under the Weave programme since September 2021
