Together with the Biodiversa+ European Partnership for Biodiversity, we are pleased to announce an international call for proposals: “Nature-Based Solutions for Biodiversity, Human Well-being and Transformative Change” (BiodivNBS). The total budget available to Polish teams is EUR 1 million.

“We want to pursue our ambitions and our research here in Poland. If the stated radical change in the research-funding model is implemented, it will deliver a hard blow to Polish science”, ERC grant holders write in an open letter to the President and the Prime Minister of Poland. The letter has been signed by 49 researchers and comes in response to the changes in the status of the NCN recently announced by the Ministry of Education and Science.

On Wednesday, 11 October 2023, we will present the NCN Awards for 2023. As many as 44 candidates are in the running for this top distinction this year.

The European Research Council has just announced the winners of Starting Grants 2023, including two Poland-based researchers: one from the Warsaw University of Technology and the other from the Wrocław University of Technology. Their previous research projects were also funded by the NCN.

The Ministry of Education and Science decided to give the nod to our agency and its work and approve our 2022 Report. Previously, the document had also received a positive review from the Main Council of Science and Higher Education and the Research Policy Committee.

71 researchers will complete a single research task, such as a preliminary/pilot study, library or archive search, research fellowship or research/consultation trip, thanks to nearly PLN 2.7 mln in research funding from the NCN in the fourth round of the MINIATURA 7 call.

Our new podcast episode is devoted to NCN’s international cooperation. Justyna Woźniakowska, Malwina Gębalska, and Miłosz Miszczyński talk about the currently-open IMPRESS-U and CHANSE calls and explain what to keep in mind when preparing a proposal.

The NCN announces IMPRESS-U, a call aimed at supporting Ukrainian research potential and opening up new opportunities for cooperation between researchers from Poland, Ukraine, the USA and the Baltic states.

38 researchers at the onset of their research career have been awarded grants under the SONATINA 7 call for proposals. The NCN has allocated over PLN 32 million for two- or three-year research projects.

11 Polish teams are all set to conduct their research in tandem with Czech and Austrian partners under the OPUS 24+LAP/Weave scheme. The NCN has slated a total of more than 13.7 million zlotys in funding for their projects.
