Max-Planck-Gesellschaft (The Max Planck Society, MPG) is a German non-profit research organisation created in 1948 and financed by federal and state governments.

MPG’s portfolio includes the Dioscuri Programme which aims to create Centres of Scientific Excellence in Central and Eastern Europe. On July 4th 2017 in Krakow, a memorandum of understanding between MPG and the National Science Centre was signed. According to this document, 10 Centres of Scientific Excellence, selected within open calls, will be established. On November 7th, the first Dioscuri funding opportunity was launched. Funding for a max. of three Centres will be awarded.within this call.
