Dr Katarzyna Bester-Ostrowska

PhD in Humanities and expert in theatre studies. Since 2021, coordinator for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the National Science Centre. Formerly a theatre and dance researcher, lecturer, critic and curator as well as expert on communication and international cooperation.

Her research interests include intercultural strategies in art, intercultural and Asian theatre, contemporary dance and new performance forms. In 2017, she defended her doctoral thesis (with distinction) on intercultural strategies in contemporary Japanese performances at the Department of Performance Studies of the Jagiellonian University. She has published critical and scientific papers in numerous Polish and international journals and has presented her research results at many conferences in Poland and abroad, including in the United States and India. She is a member of the Association for Asian Performance (AAP) and Centre for Performance Research and Cultural Studies in South Asia (Cpracsis). She was a lecturer at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow. For many years, she has actively supported culture, initiating, curating and organising international contemporary dance festivals and events.

Her hobbies include sci-fi literature, jazz and snooker.
