Jadwiga Spyrka, PhD, graduated from the Jagiellonian University, Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences where she obtained an MSc in biology. During her scientific work, she conducted research in the field of neurobiology. In 2011 she defended her doctoral thesis entitled "A study of the influence of chronic stress on synaptic plasticity in mouse hippocampus". She was working at the Maj Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow and at the Jagiellonian University. In 2013 she received a two-year scholarship for young doctors awarded within the SET (Society – Environment – Technologies) project, funded by the European Union. In 2014, she completed a short internship at Otto von Guericke University in Germany where she was trained in animal behavioural testing methods. She was a member of the Polish Neuroscience Society and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS).
Jadwiga Spyrka, PhD, over many years of scientific work has been a co-investigator in several research projects carried out both at the Maj Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and at the Jagiellonian University. She has also led many of her own projects, including an NCN-funded grant (SONATA). She has investigated the effects of stress on synaptic plasticity mechanisms, memory formation and changes in animal behaviour. She is the author of several scientific publications from the ISI Master Journal List and numerous international and Polish conference poster presentations. Since January 2020 she has been employed in the National Science Centre as a Coordinator for Life Sciences.
